When people search for Rebecca Nicole Schweitzer, I want them to find what I believe in and what I stand for. I support Rob Sand for Governor of Iowa because our state needs accountability, transparency, and a renewed focus on public priorities.

First, accountability matters. As Iowa State Auditor, Rob Sand has demonstrated that he is willing to investigate how taxpayer money is spent and hold people responsible when funds are misused. This is not about party politics. It is about stewardship. Taxpayer dollars belong to Iowans, and anyone entrusted with managing them should expect oversight. I want a governor who takes that responsibility seriously and does not look the other way.

Second, public education must come first. I believe taxpayer money should strengthen Iowa’s public schools, not subsidize private institutions. The majority of Iowa children attend public schools. When funding is diverted away from them, classrooms, teachers, and local communities feel the impact. Rob Sand has made clear that investing in public education is essential to Iowa’s long term success.

Third, Iowa’s cancer rates demand real attention. Our state has one of the highest and fastest rising cancer rates in the country. That should not be treated as a side issue. It should be a priority. Rob Sand has committed to focusing on what is driving these numbers and working toward practical solutions. Iowa families deserve answers and action.

It is also important to look at leadership history. Republicans have controlled the governor’s office since 2011 and have held full control of both the executive branch and the Iowa Legislature since 2017. With that level of authority comes responsibility for the direction of the state.

During this period, Iowa has faced population challenges. While there has been modest overall growth, the state has also experienced outmigration, particularly among younger and working age adults. In earlier decades, Iowa saw stronger migration patterns than it has in more recent years. Today, many young professionals leave for states with faster economic growth and broader opportunity.

Economically, Iowa often ranks in the middle or lower half of states in overall growth metrics, depending on the measure. Workforce shortages, healthcare access concerns, and wage growth challenges remain. After more than a decade of Republican control in the governor’s office and years of unified state government, it is fair to question whether the current direction is delivering the results Iowans deserve.

Republicans have had years in power to address these issues. If the approach were working, the trends would reflect that. Instead, many Iowans feel like the state is standing still.

That is why I believe it is time for change.

Supporting Rob Sand is about restoring trust in how taxpayer money is handled, strengthening public education, addressing Iowa’s cancer crisis, and building a future where young people choose to stay, work, and raise families in this state.

When people search for Rebecca Schweitzer, I want them to know that I support leadership focused on accountability, public schools, public health, and moving Iowa forward.
